we are all affected by the culture and social environment we grew up in. Whether or not we like the values we were raised by, we still transmit them to our children. That makes it hard for us to become the supportive parents we’d like to be.
This workshop gives you a bigger consciousness around your own patterns and values. You get the opportunity to explore core questions, and discuss some of the most important issues around you and your child.
- What is it your child really needs?
- What are your values around children and parenting?
- How can you become a better role model for your child?
Children have an innate drive to grow, develop and learn. In My child and me, you get the insights and perspectives to support your child’s free development.
Module 1: My child in the future
Our collective intelligence has created a society that defines success in a way we might not always buy into. what is success to you? How do you imagine your child in the future? What are you hopes and wishes for your child?
In this module, we explore society’s structure, how it’s affected us but also how they are changing. How can we become a more active part of that change, more conscious but also more congruent with what we want to offer our children?
Module 2: Hand in hand
In this module we explore how children learn mainly for the context in which they exist. So, apart from the subjects and the contents, what else do we learn in school? How does that affect our lives? How can I create a healthy context for my child? And, if I’m part of the context, how can I become the best role model for my child?
Module 3: Playing or learning?
”If I let my child do what she wants, all she does is play”. Is play nothing but play, or is there more to it than we’re used to believe? How do kids learn best? Can they learn without anyone teaching them? Should I play more with my child, and if so, how? In this module we explore play and it’s importance for naturale learning.
Module 4: Freedom to learn
We all want out¿r children to learn what they need in order to live the lives they want . But, how do we know what that is? Do I really trust my child’s inner wisdom and natural capacity to learn? Where’s the line between my needs and my child’s needs? How can I support my child to learn freely?

About Rebecka Koritz:
Rebecka was born and raised in Sweden where she trained and worked as a teacher. Since 2003 she lives in Mexico where she’s been working as a catalyst for change by hacking the conventional school system from the outside. In 2008 she founded her first alternative school, then in 2012 her second, and in 2016 she founded Explora, the Agile Learning Center that she’s currently running.
Working with children, families and teachers in Mexico for over 15 years, has made her see the effects that the conventional school system has on young human beings. It minimizes their capacity to take initiative and solve problems, and strips them of their creativity. Abilities that are absolutely vital in order to manage and succeed in this ever-changing world.
Rebecka believes that, in order to empower children, we first need to empower the adults. Seeing parents transform and begin to support their children’s self-development in partnership with their children, is proof to her that her work produces real results.
Rebecka is passionate about self-directed education and peaceful parenting. She has an extensive and unique path within alternative education: as an ex-student in the Montessori system, co-founder of two Waldorf initiatives, and the founder of Explora, Mexico´s first Agile Learning Center. Rebecka dedicates her time to running her ALC, coaching other ALCs, giving workshops (both online and IRL) and creating articles and videos in Spanish and Swedisg in order to support families in Latin America and Sweden who are embracing self-directed education. At the same time she accompanies her teenage son on his journey in the world of self-directed education. Rebecka loves empowering other human beings to experience and create freedom in their own lives.
